Always something new to do!

Hi everyone! I'm blogging! Yay! Click on the newslink above to see what I've been up to lately.

Well, you might think I'm feeling more settled now in this new house. You would think... right? Well, as we empty boxes and try to find new spaces in which to put things, we are also slowly emptying our old house and the storage unit... so new boxes appear where we've emptied previous ones. Alas. And we definitely don't have our new spaces set up for maximal organization. Yet. It is frustrating... and my desire to go crazy and organize waxes and wanes... like a tide. No matter, you are still welcome to come over for a cup of tea! The sunroom looks pretty finished and has a wonderful view. :-)

A memory: When Noah was little, he would see the rays of the sun shining through the trees and say it was 'God's Pow-ah'

YAH Diane! You've entered this wonderful expanding world of blogging. I enjoy it. I love looking back at previous posts from awhile back and read what I wrote and especially love looking back at the pictures. I will be a faithful viewer to your blog as I'm addicted to blogs. And now I'll still have a way to keep up with you since I won't see you on a regular basis (sad face).

Didn't Hummingbirds go to First Grade?

I'm pretty sure that hummingbirds didn't go to first grade. Well, maybe they forgot what they learned. I saw one of these beautiful birds in the yard, and decided to get a feeder. Who knew they liked Kool-aid? Anyway, within hours, I saw one! He was SO tiny and amazing.... hovering like a bee with his little tail wiggling back and forth as he sucked Hawaiian punch out of the feeder. For most of that first day, he came and went... it was wonderful! Then, the second day, I noticed two. Yay! Then three! Yippee! Then.... they forgot how to share. I mean, there is more Kool-aid in there then even I could drink in a day... and these little mini-copters are fighting over it! One would land and drink and another would dive-bomb him. Down, down, down...

Oh, how I love the fall! I’m not sure I can adequately explain why. Is it morbid to love a time of dying… when leaves are forced to shrivel up and depart from life-giving limbs to become dust of the earth? Since spring, the world has been green and sumptuous… full of life. It would be easy to ask why it has to change. But for me… fall is warm... snug... special. It is when I can get out my most cozy sweaters and watch football with my family. Maybe I love fall because I love cozy sweaters? It goes deeper than that. Just think - God could have made the leaves all turn brown and drop. Plunk. Over. But he chose, instead, to bless us with a fireworks display of beauty! It isn’t a dying… it is a promise of new life. It is a farewell party message, ‘I’ll be back again!’ Not unlike the story of Jesus himself. Dead… hanging from a tree… falling into the very pit of hell. But wait! We should have been celebrating! Well, days at the new homestead are rolling along. Our days of being real-estate moguls are coming to an end as the sale of our old house goes through on Sept 30. We finally emptied that house out of everything we own last week. We have literally been moving for a year, since we got a storage unit last fall to begin the process. What a blessing that it is coming to an end! Although we still have to empty a great deal out of storage! Yes, for a short time, we could impress the world by saying we owned two homes. But as you can well imagine, owning two homes can be a blessing or a curse! We all loved that house... but are so happy to be in our beautiful new country home. We have really enjoyed the quiet... the trees... the stars... and all the space to create a family haven. As you can see above, we are in the process of building a basketball court.
