Ahhh... The Beach.

Image
We just returned from Myrtle Beach. It was so relaxing after such a busy year that my body just felt limp. And that was ok. I'm not a 'sit on the beach in the sun all day' kinda person... and I'm not a fan of being way out in the waves... but I love the beach. The atmosphere... the deafening noise of the waves... The infinite sea of glass... the warm, soft sand... the way people smile and play... it literally smells of God. I love putting my short little sand chair down at the water's edge and letting the waves kiss my feet... pulling my chair and toes deeper into the sand with each pass. And sometimes a beautiful shell or something will wash up for me to ogle over before it quietly moves back to the water. Breathtaking, I say! We had the luxury of a wonderful oceanfront condo. We left the master bedroom sliding door open all night, so we got to hear the constant, soothing roar... which never really got that 'come and go' sound to it... it was pret...

Didn't Hummingbirds go to First Grade?

Image
I'm pretty sure that hummingbirds didn't go to first grade. Well, maybe they forgot what they learned. I saw one of these beautiful birds in the yard, and decided to get a feeder. Who knew they liked Kool-aid? Anyway, within hours, I saw one! He was SO tiny and amazing.... hovering like a bee with his little tail wiggling back and forth as he sucked Hawaiian punch out of the feeder. For most of that first day, he came and went... it was wonderful! Then, the second day, I noticed two. Yay! Then three! Yippee! Then.... they forgot how to share. I mean, there is more Kool-aid in there then even I could drink in a day... and these little mini-copters are fighting over it! One would land and drink and another would dive-bomb him. Then two would show up and do a little 'my dad's bigger than your dad' dance around the thing! I have a few pictures, though they aren't the best. But you can see one coming in to chase another. They are only about 3-inches long! I'm sti...

Good Morning!!

I LOVE getting up early... before anyone else... when it is almost silent in the house and the sun is not yet up... I can think clearly about my day and ask God what it is I need to do. Ahhh. I usually stay up late, too. But I can't think as well then... I just want to veg by the TV in the late evenings. That certainly isn't satisfying to my spirit or brain! Making lists... one of my favorite things. Sometimes I make lists of the lists I need to make! Ok, that has only happened like twice when there were so many things on my mind that I thought I'd explode. I never actually used the 'list of lists,' but it helped me focus. :-) Let's try it! Here we go... List of Lists to make: items to pack for beach menu plan for beach items to bring to the old house today (carpet delivery - going to paint) people to call about unresolved new house issues SEE! Isn't that easy? Well, I better go make my blackberry tea, a list or two, and get ready to take Molly to school for...

Always something new to do!

Hi everyone! I'm blogging! Yay! Click on the newslink above to see what I've been up to lately. Well, you might think I'm feeling more settled now in this new house. You would think... right? Well, as we empty boxes and try to find new spaces in which to put things, we are also slowly emptying our old house and the storage unit... so new boxes appear where we've emptied previous ones. Alas. And we definitely don't have our new spaces set up for maximal organization. Yet. It is frustrating... and my desire to go crazy and organize waxes and wanes... like a tide. No matter, you are still welcome to come over for a cup of tea! The sunroom looks pretty finished and has a wonderful view. :-) A memory: When Noah was little, he would see the rays of the sun shining through the trees and say it was 'God's Pow-ah' A verse: The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him. Neh 1:7

First Blog

Not sure how this will come out... testing, testing... can you hear me world? What exactly is a 'blog' anyway? I mean, I created it in a few mere minutes! :-) Pretty amazing, I think. Maybe I'll learn more HTML so I can make it pretty? Di
